Day 4

The BOS meeting was crowded and that’s good news. People need to show up and see for themselves how their business is conducted. It was contentious and didn’t go anywhere. The next meeting will be decisive.  My afternoon walk was social. Everyone was talkative and I enjoyed the casual conversations. I like to be open to comments and often a smile is all it takes. No agenda today. Housework looms as does a storm. I’ll get food cooked in case we lose power.

Day 3

The shivering conversations on the walk yesterday were complaints about the icy wind! Wind, rain, and snow are forecast. I’ve been busy with devices: texting, messaging, e-mailing, phoning. Busy with Facebook re the cannabis furor. I will attend the Board of Supervisors meeting with a crowd of interested people. There is much misinformation going around. I am involved with Gene and Carol too. Gene is close to the end of his life. His sons are coming today and plans need to be made.

Day 2

Lots of acknowledgement yesterday and now it’s business as usual. Maybe an early walk in the cold again. I enjoy bundling up and briskly prancing around the long block. It sets up the day with vigor. It’s senior center duty and I’m looking forward to going and being part of the group. I hear stories there and support individuals with kindness. It is my job. Later, maybe another walk. No errands but I often meet people and chat. I call it social walking.
Not going out until the ice ferns melt

Day 1

It is a cold morning to emerge from the warm nest to greet my 83rd year on Earth. I’m glad to plan a day that will begin with a quick walk before church and lunch with Hollie after church. The rules for last year will still be my guidelines and I will add the constant look-out for new people, opportunities to serve in the community and enjoy what I have already chosen. I like activity and involvement. It connects me to daily living.
